Who we are
The EISDBE is a specialised European organisation dedicated to the generation and application of knowledge and expertise. Our core focus is the promotion of sustainability, the protection of natural capital, the enhancement of the built environment, and the provision of scientific support to public and private stakeholders in pursuit of balanced and sustainable development.
Mission
To transform the Principle of Sustainability from an abstract concept into a measurable, actionable and scientifically grounded framework that guides spatial planning and development policy.
Vision
A Europe where every development decision is guided by objective sustainability indicators, taking into account the carrying capacity of local communities and ensuring a long-term balance between economic prosperity, environmental protection and social cohesion.
Our Areas of Activity
Treating every project as an integral part of a broader ecosystem, the Institute acts as an institutional advisor that:

It constitutes the fundamental normative framework and the ultimate criterion for evaluating every analysis, advisory opinion and intervention undertaken by the Institute.
Every area has objective natural and social limits to its capacity to sustain development, the exceeding of which leads to irreversible degradation.
